Attendant Services

First Hour Minimum Every 15 Min. / After First Hour Reduced Co-Pay Participants

[toggle]We have emergency attendants on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. We strive to have a male and female attendant on call at all times. They can assist with non-medical personal care, urgent errands and urgent household needs.

 Some typical services we can provide are:

  • Transferring in and out of bed
  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Feeding
  • Toileting
  • Cooking basic meals

Household chores when there is an urgent need for example: washing dishes when there are no clean dishes to serve a meal or running immediate need errands for example:

  • Grocery shopping for diabetic food.
  • Dropping off phone bill when your service is in imminent shut off status. [/toggle]

 


Transportation Services

[toggle]EDI’s Emergency Transportation service is designed to assist clients who experience an unforeseen transportation need.

For example: a client’s wheelchair breaks down and they have no other means to safely get home, or a client needs to go to an urgent medical appointment.

We have a lift-equipped van to transport clients and/or wheelchairs, scooters and other adaptive equipment originating within Berkeley to a destination within a mile of Berkeley.

Non-Emergency

  • Demand response rides are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am-midnight and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am-midnight. Non-emergency, demand-response rides cannot be scheduled the day before. All EDI rides must remain within one mile of the city of Berkeley.

On Demand Berkeley Para-transit

  • EDI’s non-emergency, demand-response lift-equipped van service is available to clients, who are also clients of Berkeley Para-transit Services and utilize the city’s Wheelchair-Van Program.

How it Works

How to Pay

  • Berkeley Para-transit on demand rides can only be paid for with a Green van voucher or Orange van voucher obtained through Berkeley Para-Transit.

Assistive Equipment Repair, Loaner and Buy Out Services

[toggle]Easy Does It provides emergency adjustments and repairs for assistive equipment such as manual and power wheelchairs, scooters, patient lifts, beds and other equipment.

We have an experienced technician on call seven days a week.This is one of our highest demand services and we pride ourselves in our ability to problem solve most equipment problems.

Since these services are in high demand we may not be able to fix your equipment the same day you call but we strive to fix the problem as quickly as possible.[/toggle]

[toggle]Easy Does It offers adjustments and repairs for assistive devices such as wheelchairs, beds, and lifts used for activities of daily living. EDI has some equipment available for loan (i.e. wheelchairs, chargers, lifts).

This service is for emergency situations when other repair shops and resources are unable to provide help. An experienced technician will respond to the emergency repair call and get the client up and moving again! EDI  charges $15/hour for our repair services. In addition a $15 to pick up equipment and a $15 charge to drop off equipment when they are finished with equipment.

There is no charge for our AT Device Loan Program, unless the borrowed device is damaged or not returned within the agreed upon time-frame.[/toggle]
