Scheduled Accessible Rides
Serving Berkeley Residents
If you qualify for Wheelchair Van Vouchers through the City of Berkeley's Rides for Seniors and the Disabled Program. You can use our scheduled accessible rides service to get to essential medical appointments, errands, and events when no other transportation options are available.
Free, Scheduled Transport
Schedule a ride with us at least 24 hours in advance for safe, accessible transportation in and around the City of Berkeley (up to 10 miles outside the city limits.) Get a guaranteed ride and pay with vouchers.
Safe, Accessible Vans
Our vans are equipped with power lifts and complete wheelchair securement systems. Vans include floor‑mounted wheelchair tie‑downs and lap/shoulder belts to safely secure both you and your chair.
Last Minute Transportation
If you require emergency transportation but can't give 24 hours notice, you can book an emergency ride assuming we have a driver available. Rides are paid for with cash and subsidized by BRSD.
Acceptable Trips
Our van service is meant to be used for certain types of trips when no other transportation options are available. Use East Bay Paratransit,
AC Transit and BART whenever possible. When these systems can't get you to your destination and you're going on one of the following outings, our team is ready to help.
Medical Appointments
Reliable, accessible transportation to non‑emergency medical appointments, including doctor visits, dialysis, therapy, and follow‑up care. Our drivers assist with safe boarding and ensure clients arrive on time and comfortably.
Essential Errand & Grocery Trips
Door‑to‑door transportation for grocery shopping, pharmacy stops, and other essential errands. These rides support independence by helping clients access daily necessities safely and stress‑free.
Start Living as You Choose
If you'd like to start using our Scheduled Accessible Rides Service to get around town, all you have to is fill out a short form to verify your eligibility. If approved, we'll send you the complete application.

Berkeley clients can use BRSD vouchers to pay for scheduled rides. No cash payment is required.
- For every 10 miles you travel, you'll need to provide one Wheelchair-Van or High Medical Need Voucher.
- Riders can travel up to 10 miles outside of the City of Berkeley.
- Vouchers must be presented at the start of your ride, not the end or after.

- Funds donated by members of the Community and Share the Spirit are still available for Albany and El Cerrito.
